Nova Services Collective Mentoring Circles

Circles” is an international, evidence-based process that engages individuals in growth through collective empowerment. It is a method of developing communication, resolving conflict, community building and problem solving.  A “Circle” is a group of individuals brought together to support a specific purpose. Within the “Circle’ they develop communication through a structured process of listening to others.  A “Circle” creates a safe space for disagreement without being disagreeable.  The process is never about “changing others”, but rather is an invitation to change oneself and one’s relationship with the community.

Collective Mentoring Circles is a component of the Nova Services Restorative Justice Program. It is a structured process to promote behavioral change and establish positive activity for juvenile offenders along with developing accountability and responsibility. It recognizes the impact on victims within the community and attempts to develop a healing and understanding relationship where every voice is heard. Community representatives, or Elders, are recruited as mentors to assist with the “Circle” process. The circle provides an opportunity for all participants to grow and learn from each other. It is a means by which we can build a better community.

We also support successful school experiences within the Collective Mentoring Circles Program. Through the coordination of support circles we are able to bring together key individuals to support a student through the development of a plan for school success. Please contact us for more information about this program and the referral process.
