Truancy Intervention

Truancy is the “gateway to delinquency”. The Truancy Intervention Program is a non-punitive, twelve week, supportive program to assist with school attendance issues. This programis offered to all Washington County School Districts. Students at any grade level may be referred to the program. A Truancy Counselor works with the student, family and school personnel to determine the root cause of the truancy. Counselors monitor attendance and investigate absences. Regular contact is maintained with all parties. This contact includes, but is not limited to, school and home visits, joint or individual meetings, phone calls, and possible referrals to other resources. At the end of twelve weeks, all participants and team members meet to discuss conclusions and recommendations. Our Truancy Intervention Program provides another level of support for the student and their family. Please contact us for more information about this program and the referral process.
